I’m currently reading Carl Sagan’s Cosmos. Check out this passage:
“Harold Morowitz has calculated what it would cost to put together the correct molecular constituents that make up a human being by buying the molecules from chemical supply houses. The answer turns out to be about ten million dollars.”
That was in 1980. Assuming the value of those chemicals hasn’t changed and adjusting for inflation only, today it would cost $31,581,189.32.
